Echanges linguistiques
10e classe (15-16 ans)

Hello!

I’ve been in United States for a month now. I’m having a great time, and I feel like time is going too fast ! The school is awesome, there aren’t many students in the high school so we quickly get to know everyone. Until now, we were in an Ancient Cultures block.

It was quite different from the one we had at the beginning of the year, in France, so we weren’t bored ! In fact, we really had (and still have) a lot of work… Last week I visited New York. It was great !! I wouldn’t like to live there, but it was amazing to visit.

My family is adorable, my exchange student (Zoe) has a twin sister and an other younger sister. Right now I’m staying with a friend because my family went to spend Thanksgiving in Colorado. Next week-end I will go to New Hampshire.

The weather is getting colder, we should begin to see some snow soon… We have been enjoying the beautiful colors of Fall near Canada for a few weeks, but now all the leaves have been blown away…

Hello, it’s Louis-Henry for my last letter about my American trip.

For this letter I have to talk about a school project that I did.

I think my favorite project in the school was the soccer team with Finn-lass. In the United States each High School has a soccer team. I really like that. It’s really cool and it’s too bad that we don’t have it in France.

We had two coaches on the soccer season.  They are amazing. Today is the last practice for me and Finn-Lass.  We plated a big game just for fun with the other guys on the time.  It’s so cool.  I like the practices when we do that. For the season only, the coach gave us the Steiner soccer uniform, but today we have to return the uniforms to the coaches.  However, we can keep the t-shirt and shorts of physical education.  It’s a honor for me to wear this t-shirt. That’s all for my school project, I’ll see you soon in France because I’m flying back with Finn-Lass tomorrow.

Good-bye everybody and I’ll see you soon.

Louis-Henry

Hello,

I have been in Melbourne in Australia since the 18th August.

I began my stay with a camp of 12 days in a farm in a place isolated without running water, without electricity… So, really hard to start, not knowing either the class, or the place, or my penfriend and even less the language!

It was a rapid dive ! Then went to school for one week, it’s very different to school in France.

Personally I find that very cool !!!! We are 20 in the class! The students have lots of freedom but they do not often abuse it ! They are very jovial and welcoming. I didn’t take long to adapt even if the language limits the discussions.

…. For the holidays I have been in my family’s holidays house in Inverloch. This house is at the beach in a very nice little town ! It’s a very big house.

Here, I was really able to speak with the family and see many beautiful things.

They have a rhythm of live very different to the rhythm in France.

To start with the climate : at the moment in Australia it’s the end of winter. The night comes early

Everybody wakes up early, eats pudding (that I don’t really like).

After that, the family where I am staying is very sporty : we walk, cycle or do other things, We play a lot of card games in the evening we go to sleep not too late!

That is a typical day in the holidays at Inverloch.

The family atmosphere is nice ! They have three children : Olivia (just 15 years old) Brigit (13 years old) and Macgregor (10 years old). The house is more or less big !

Nature here is very beautiful, The trees are very tall, the birds are multicoloured and very, very beautiful. They are possums, kangaroos, koalas, and wombats…so lots of beautiful things to look at.

I have been in England since the 16th August and I like being here.
Is it the houses with their little red bricks? Is it the beautiful green forest ? London, with all the shops, all the people, the river, all the famous monuments like Big Ben and the London Eye, the red buses, the street shows, the telephone box, the markets…? Or is it this kind family that welcomed me? Or is it the big school, with all the nice thoughtful people, the metalwork class, the big stage, the drama class, the cafeteria, this sensation of warmth and protection?
I don’t know, but I am sure I love England very much. Not for the weather which isalways rainy and the lunch at 15h but these things don’t make me want to return to France.
My host’s family live in Bovingdone, a friendly little village 30 minutes from London and 15 minutes from Kings Langley, where the school is.

When I arrived in the Maine,  I felt very good here.

Maybe it was the wonderful colors of the trees in front of what I was so charmed.

Maybe it was the warmly welcome of Phoebe and her family whithin  I’m close.

Maybe it was  the engagee and happy atmosphere of the little school were the teachers, like in our school, give all their heart and soul to warm what they teach. Or the nice students who push their hands so often to contribute and give something in the lesson !

Today I miss my family and my friends but I profit of  this wonderful experience which I think will change a part of my life. For my English I think and hope it’s better !

Nice to see you soon.

Yesterday, december 5th, I was in Boston. I went with Phoebe and her mom in the opera to see the ballet « Nutcraker ». It was beautiful. The town is beautiful too!

Today we will go to quip the chrismas tree .

I have two weeks of school. In main lesson we have Biologie. Some subjects are hard for me.

Their french teacher asks Marie and me if we can speak, in french, about how is chrismas in our family. And next week with the german class, we are five, we play St Nicolas for the class 1 to 8. I think that will be fun. After I wiil have two weeks of vacations! On begenning we will go in New York for three days. I can’t wait ! Chrismas approaches, my return too.
